If you are an adult that is just going back to school, there are some some things that you might want to keep in mind. First off, the technology used in the classroom is a far cry from the days when you may have gone to school. Secondly, the classroom atmosphere is much different, and is much more interactive in my opinion. With the changes in the classroom come some changes in the supplies that you will need in order to succeed in school.
A computer is a must in my opinion. While a good desktop PC will do you good, a laptop is probably the better option. The laptop offers you the chance to take notes in class, and look at whatever information that the professor is putting up during the class, but using the Internet to access it instead. This gives you the advantage of being able to study the information at your own pace, and get ahead of the teacher, so you can understand what is coming up.
While there might be a huge leap in technology, the most basic school supplies are still going to be needed. The standard way to take attendance in college seems to be with the class quiz at the start of class. Taking this into account, you are going to want to make sure you have paper and a pen handy in any class. Not only that, but having a folder is good too so that you can just put a couple pieces of paper in there, and you don’t have as much clutter.
Bringing an organizer is a good thing to have as well. With all the meetings, tests, papers, and other things that you have to do in school, it can be of great value to be organized. It won’t cost you too much to get one, and if you get a laptop, you might even have some sort of organizational software on your computer. Being organized is one of the keys to being a great student.
Believe it or not, having money on you can be a great asset too. Whether it be to grab a snack before or after class, or to buy food for the big meeting before the test, it can come in handy to have money on you. Some group grades depend on what you add to the group, so bringing food can not hurt you there. The professor will usually inform you if you are going somewhere, but if something comes up, and you need to pay for a trip or something, having the money on hand is a good idea.
So there you have it, some of the things that you will need when it comes to your classes. Basics like paper and pens will never die, but a good computer goes a long way. Keeping organized is key, and having cash is good in case you go on a trip, or you need to score some points with your group before the big presentation before the end of the semester.
