You finally did it. You made the decision to go back to school and continue your education. The only problem is you’re older than you use to be, and you now have to juggle school, work, and family. Although you have a full plate, there are things that you can do to find time to study.
*Early to Rise
Whether you work at a 9 to 5 job or you are a stay at home mom, you can squeeze in a little study time by getting up an hour earlier. Usually the children and your husband are still asleep and this is the perfect opportunity for you to study uninterrupted. It may be a little difficult at first, but once your body adjusts to the time change, it won’t be as taxing.
*Wee Wee Hours
If you are not a morning person, you can always try staying up just a little bit later to get that studying done. Hopefully, the children are in bed, and you have found a quiet place to focus on school work.
*Take a Break
Breaks are a good time to nab some study time. Usually breaks are divided up into 15 minute sessions. Just be prepared. Always have your textbook, notes, or computer handy. Be sure to find a quiet place away from your co-workers or other distractions. You can also study during your lunch break.
Trips to the hairdresser, barber shop, and nail salon can be turned into study time. Ever gone to the doctor’s office or watched your child’s game? There is usually a little time between your arrival at the doctor’s office and the time you are called to the back to be seen, and all sports have half-time. Pull out your notes during this down time and squeeze in some quick study time.
*Are You Listening?
Some instructors will allow you to record their class. If you are able to do that, you can listen to those recorded notes while you are driving to work or to the grocery store. Also, most books are now on audio. If you are assigned a book to read, check to see if it is on audio. You can also take advantage of E-books. They make studying easier. You no longer have to worry about carrying around all those heavy textbooks. You can easily have them downloaded to your Kindle or Nook.
*Friends and Family
If all else fails, you can always ask your friend and family to help. You can get them to watch your children for a while so that you can squeeze in some much needed study time.
Deciding to continue your education was a great idea. Now, all you need to do is find the time you need to study. You can find that time by taking advantage of every available opportunity.
