The Benefits of Online Schools

After being away from a classroom for more than 20 years, I returned, but not to the traditional school setting. I had been offered an opportunity that I would have died for. Unfortunately, I had to turn it down. Why? I had no degree.

I was working full time, had three kids at home and I wanted a better education. Going back to college at a campus was not really an option. The only opportunity I had available to me was distance learning, via the computer.

Going back to college on-line offered me the best of it all. I was able to continue my job, spend time with my kids and yet work towards the degree that would offer me a chance at a better job so that I could give my kids the things they not only needed but wanted. I didn’t have to be away from my family any more than I already was. It’s great. While I haven’t completed the course yet, I am that much closer to obtaining my Associates degree in Criminal Justice because I could do it on my own time, at my own speed, get the assistance I needed, even without being in a classroom. I have maintained a strong B+ throughout the entire course.

Not everyone is cut out to sit in a classroom and learn. Many people can’t do that. While I have done just that, it wasn’t working for me. I had to take one class at a time, as finances weren’t good enough to take more than that. With the on-line courses, I am able to make payments, complete the courses as quickly or as slowly as I needed to. I control my schooling schedule, not someone else. On-line education can be a great benefit to those who don’t have a lot of time for traditional college. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to return to college, get a better education and still have more time for their families, their current jobs or just for living. I would also suggest that you check out the school you are looking at. Make sure that it is an accredited school, as most regular colleges/universities won’t accept a transfer later on should you decide to transfer to a regular college forum.

For me, on-line education was the answer I needed. It is working out great and as I said, I would recommend it highly.
