Rest assured, in college one will use up a lot of energy throughout the day. This is due to the busy hustle-and-bustle life that college students experience. There are classes to go to, books to read, homework to do, and topics to study. Plus, add all the personal things going on in your life including friends and family, and you may seem like you’re a constant working machine. But do not fret. Besides the obvious rest and relaxation techniques that can prove beneficial, the types of snack foods you eat can also be helpful. Healthy snack foods can provide the necessary nutrients to get you going throughout your day. And, believe it or not, there are some tasty snack foods that happen to be healthy as well, so there is no need to sacrifice on taste.
So, what are some of these snack foods? One of the main ones at the top of the snack-chain are fruits. There is a large variety of fruits available, and all hold some health benefit. They tend to be high in vitamins and are good energy sources. Plus, they do not taste horrible, either. Apples would be your best bet for fruits. You can find them packed in small pouches with several apple slices in them. This would be a great, portable snack that would not only be sufficient for your college dorm room, but for the classroom as well. You can also find fruit trays, which are portable trays that come with many different types of fruits in them, such as oranges, watermelon, grapes, and more.
You can also try nuts and raisins. These snack foods prove to be very portable, and hold health benefits as well. They tend to be rich in protein, fiber, and vitamin E. You can find them in all sorts of flavors and types, too. There are cashews, peanuts, walnuts, and others. And, as an added benefit, research shows that people who eat nuts and raisins regularly have a lower risk of obtaining heart disease. So not only are they tasty, but they prove to be healthy in the long run.
You can indulge in tasty treats every now and then as well. For example, you can try some cheese crackers or healthy, mildly buttered popcorn. You can try some low-sugar, diet soda. Or, you can even buy some chips that are specially made to be tasty, yet they leave out a lot of the unhealthy ingredients. This all goes to show that it is quite possible to enjoy the snacking sessions in your college dorm room without sacrificing the deliciousness of the foods. Enjoy!
