Getting a higher score on your LSAT

Your LSAT score can go a long way to helping you get into the law school of your choice.  Even small upticks in your score can make the difference, thus you will want to get the best score that you possibly can.  There are different things that you can do in order to help raise your score.  The following are some techniques you might want to try.

Buy a study book

Many people find that a study book such as Cracking the LSAT by Princeton Review to be extremely helpful.  These can give you a good look at what you might see on the test as well as familiarize you with the format and layout of the test.  You will have an idea of what to expect when you see the test.  It will also cover different principles that you might see on the test and can show you what skills you have mastered and which areas might require additional study.  There is a variety of such books, and you may find a combination of books to be useful.

Take a test prep course in the LSAT

Different companies such as Kaplan offer classes in LSAT test preparation.  Some of these are online while others are in person.  These can be pricey but they can be extremely useful in helping you raise your score.  They are professionals and will know how the test works and the ways in which you can maximize your scoring potential.  These companies also often offer private tutoring, which can help you target exact topics to help you raise your score.

Take practice tests

Many people find that practice tests can help them raise their scores.  You will find these in books as well as in the classes described above.

There are other things that can help raise your score that are unrelated to studying.  First, you should make sure that you are in a good physical and mental condition the day of the test.  Partying and drinking until 2a.m. the day before the test is obviously not advised.  You should be sure to get a good night’s sleep the night before the test so that you are not tired.  Eat a good breakfast so that you are not hungry but do not overload yourself so that you feel ill.  A lot of people have test anxiety before they take such a big test and that can make their score lower than it should be.  If this is an affliction from which you suffer, then take the necessary steps to reduce it such as meditation or other stress-reduction techniques.

Make sure to give yourself enough time to prepare for the LSAT exam so that you are not cramming at the end and miss out on getting everything in. By taking the above steps, you are likely to improve your LSAT score.
