Christ Church University

Canterbury Christ Church University is located in the county of Kent in the South of England. The university has five sites which are found in Canterbury, Folkestone, Broadstairs, Medway and Tunbridge Wells, different courses are available at each campus.

Faculties and Courses

Christ Church is a teaching and research university that mainly focuses on training those who plan careers in the public and professional service. It has five faculties, Arts and Humanities, Business and Management, Education, Health and Social Care and Social and Applied Sciences.

The university caters for approximately eighteen thousand students and offers over a thousand academic and professional, full and part time, under graduate and post graduate courses. Teaching methods are both practical and academic.

Facilities

Recently the university has expanded and refurbished its premises to provide up to date and modern facilities. Located throughout the campuses are lecture halls, study areas, recording studio, media suites, a large new sports centre, Student Service Centre, library’s, IT facilities and bookshops.

The university prides itself on its fully equipped operating theatre, x ray suites and training wards, located at the Canterbury and Medway campuses.

Accommodation

The university offers both self catering and catered accommodation to first year students. Advice and support is available for students seeking other forms of accommodation.

The Students’ Union

The independent student’s union offers support and advice, organises social events and provides a bar in the Canterbury and Broadstairs campuses.

Support

Individual and group counselling is available to all students. The university also provides a Disability Advise Service, Accommodation Team and advice in respect to child care facilities. The university Chaplaincy is available to students and organises talks and discussions.

Canterbury Campus

The picturesque Cathedral City of Canterbury is a busy tourist area which has many historic buildings, well maintained parks, a busy shopping area and thriving nightlife.

The university campus is spread across four sites, North Holmes, Augustine House, Hall Place Enterprise Centre and The Sidney Cooper Gallery, all of which are located in the city.

Broadstairs Campus

The small coastal town of Broadstairs is found in northeast Kent. It is a popular tourist attraction providing sandy beaches, secluded bays and a busy town centre.

The university campus is located on the Isle of Thanet, which is near to Broadstairs and the seaside resorts of Ramsgate and Margate. The campus offers courses from commercial music to child and youth studies.

Medway

The Medway campus is situated in the town of Chatham, which is close to the city of Rochester. Known for its links to the Royal Navy, Chatham provides a busy shopping area, leisure and sports facilities. Chatham and the surrounding towns offer pubs, restaurants, cafes, clubs, cinemas and theatres.

The Christchurch University campus is part of the Universities of Medway development, located in Chatham maritime, and offers a wide range of facilities.

Folkestone

Known for its terminus for the Channel tunnel, Folkestone continues to be a busy family seaside resort. The town offers sandy beaches and pleasant cliff walks. The busy town provides a wide range of shops, sports, leisure and social facilities.

The university campus is new a development and mainly offers courses in creative subjects such as performing arts, drama and dance education.

Salomons Tunbridge Wells

The pretty spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells is situated in the West of Kent. The town is popular with tourist and houses historic landmarks, well maintained parks and wooded areas. The town provides a busy shopping area, sports facilities, pubs, clubs, restaurants, cafes, cinemas and theatres.

The Salomons campus is found on the outskirts of Tunbridge wells and is set in six acres of parkland. The site offers a number of postgraduate courses and also conference facilities.
