University Guides Kaplan Holborn College London England

Kaplan Holborn College is a private college offering full and part-time undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in accountancy, banking, business, finance, economics and law. The College is a division of Kaplan Financial Ltd – itself a subsidiary of the Washington Post Company – and is one of the foremost providers of business qualifications and professional training courses in the UK.

Programmes

The programmes offered by Kaplan are validated and awarded by its partner institutions: the University of the West of England, and the University of London. Graduates receive their degrees from the awarding institutions, although they may be a registered student of both the awarding institution and Kaplan for the duration of their studies. Degree programmes are structured to enable students to take advantage of maximum exemptions from compulsory professional qualifications such as ACCA and CIMA, and they can become fully qualified in their chosen field only a year after graduation.

Learning and Teaching

The learning environment at Kaplan differs from that at other institutions in that lectures and seminars are much smaller and intimate, helping students to get the most from their studies and enabling tutors to better understand their individual learning needs and styles. The largest lecture theatre on campus holds less than 100 students, and seminars are usually made up of less than 15 students.  The ethos of Kaplan is very much about giving each student a very personal experience.

The modern and airy classrooms are fully equipped with the latest technology and professional in appearance; many are designed to look like offices to offer students an appropriate environment in which to study. Teaching methods include traditional classroom learning, face-to-face tutorials, video lectures, online learning objects and other web-based resources.

Reputation

Those who choose to study at Kaplan will be taught by professional tutors that are highly regarded in their field of expertise; tutors who are trusted by some of the country’s most influential and important companies. Kaplan UK trains almost all of the chartered accountants in the UK, including those working for Deloitte and PriceWaterhouseCoopers. Kaplan also trains a large number of solicitors who work exclusively for leading international firms such as Bird and Bird and Mayer Brown.

Kaplan Holborn College is situated on the South bank of the Thames, metres away from the trendy Borough Market area with its eclectic and diverse range of shops, restaurants and bars, and very close to central London which can be reached in minutes by tube. The College can be found at Palace House, 3 Cathedral Street, London, SE1 9DE.
