Newcastle upon Tyne

Newcastle upon Tyne, known as Newcastle or Geordie land, is located in North East England. Situated on the River Tyne this vibrant city offers a wide range of shopping, leisure and sports facilities. Newcastle has a metro system, rail and bus services that cover the city and surrounding areas.

Newcastle University

Newcastle University houses approximately seventeen thousand full and part time students. It has three faculties, Humanities and Social Science, Medical, Science, Agriculture and Engineering, which offer approximately two hundred graduate and postgraduate courses ranging from Advanced Computer Science to Zoology. The university’s main teaching facilities are located at the Kings Gate campus, which is situated on the edge of the city. The university also has a campus located in the west of the city and two international sites in Malaysia and Singapore.

University Campuses

Kings Gate Campus covers an area of approximately fifty acres. It provides lecture halls, study areas, library, IT facilities, language resource centre, students union, sports centre, restaurants and cafes.

Ageing and Vitality Campus

This purpose built campus is located to the west of the city. The campus focuses on research into aging and health, offering a research centre, teaching and study facilities.

Malaysian Campus

Located in Johor, this campus focuses on undergraduate courses studying medicine. This campus provides the opportunity for students to share studies between the UK and Malaysia.

Singapore Campus

Located in Nanyang Polytechnic the campus focuses on students wanting to study marine science, agriculture and engineering. The campus contains teaching, study and social facilities.


All the universities accommodation is located within reach of the main campus. Accommodation comprises of self catering and catered rooms and flats. Accommodation is available for single students, couples, families and students with medical or physical needs.

Catered accommodation provides rooms and shared bathrooms in houses or flats. Students are provided with two meals a day. Available to students in catered accommodation are shops, laundrette, bar, snooker room and table tennis.

Self catering accommodation provides the student with a studybedroom and shared lounge, kitchen and bathroom. The accommodation is fully equipped with furniture and cooking facilities.


Newcastle city has a large transport system providing a metro, cross city buses, which travel to and from all teaching facilities and residences, and a main line station providing links to most of the UK.

The university offers the student counselling, disability, religious, specialist learning and financial support services.
