The one thing that every student should do before the school year starts is to take the school tour. The school tour is a useful tool for many reasons, and it allows you to get into the swing of the school year. Whether you are new, or have been at your school for a couple of years now, you never know when you might still need to find a new room. Taking the school tour is a pretty good thing to consider if you are looking to get back into the swing of things.
If you are new to your school the school tour is going to be first step to getting used to your new school. There probably will be some things that you will need help with on the first day, but at least knowing how to get to your first class, homeroom, and the area of the school you spend the most time in is important.
The school tour is useful if the school has had an renovations, or other changes to it. I remember entering my senior year, and there were some crowding problems. Because of this, we had to order some trailers, and I had no clue where they were for a few minutes. I was late for my first class, and that wasn’t fun. However, had I just taken a couple of minutes to walk around school before it started, I would have known where the trailers were.
It doesn’t matter if you are new, or if you are a returning student. There are other good reasons to take the school tour, or better yet, to actually run the school tour. It can help you get acquainted with the new students that are coming in whether they be freshman, or just new students who have no clue where they are going.
Not knowing where you are going can be scary. Imagine you are in a town and you have no map? What if nobody knew the way to the highway, and you were lost? Could you imagine how lost you would feel? That is how you probably would feel if you had no clue where you were going in a school.
Always take the school tour if you can. Even if you just end up heading to the cafeteria to get a soda, or just end up killing an hour before something else you have to do, at least you get the exercise. If you are new, it is the most important thing you can do to get acclimated, and if you are returning, you might still have some areas of the school you have yet to discover.
