Primary School Skits Veterans Day

Veteran’s Day is an important day of the year to celebrate the sacrifices of the American men and women who have fought in the armed forces. This year, Veteran’s Day will be observed on Monday, November 12, 2012. To honor these American men and women, there are a number of great primary school skits that can be put on to celebrate their accomplishments

Heroes Throughout Time

One great skit to celebrate American veterans is to depict scenes of American heroes throughout time, starting with George Washington. The skit can show George Washington’s pivotal role as the commander of the Continental Army, and then leading the country as first president of the United States of America. The skit can then continue to feature scenes of other American heroes throughout time. Some of the veterans that can be included are Andrew Jackson during the War of 1812, Ulysses S. Grant during the Civil War, and General George Patton during World War II. A great skit could go through all of the wars in American history through the current Iraq and Afghanistan wars, and feature American heroes. This is a great way to remember the patriotic veterans throughout American history, as well as to teach students important historical lessons.

Why We Fight

As each of these important heroes is featured for each of the wars throughout American history, the skit could provide a detailed explanation as to why we fought in each of these wars. The brief skit about each individual veteran could then be expanded to a broader skit about the wars themselves, and the sacrifices that the men and women made to ensure American freedom would continue. Some of the important details that could be included in this skit would be the causes of each war, some of the most important events throughout the war, and then how the war ended. It could also include some of the consequences of the war, and how they impacted the long-term future of the United States of America.

While there are a number of different ways to honor members of the armed forces during Veteran’s Day, a primary school skit is a very effective way to do it. It will teach Americans the value of their armed forces throughout history, and provide an edifying lesson for children to learn about their country’s past, present, and future. Only through the hard work and heroism of these veterans has American been built to be the amazing country that it is today.
